What is it about?
Jack Lumber’s grandma has been killed by a tree–not just any tree, but an evil one with a smile. Playing as Jack you have to cut down all of the trees to avenge your grandmother. The game has you freeze time by touching the screen and drawing a line to chop all of the lumber that appears before it falls. It’s similar to another iOS favourite, Fruit Ninja.
Why is it fun?
One of my favourite parts of Jack Lumber is the art style. It looks great and has a certain “lumberjack” feel to it. The gameplay itself isn’t too original, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. It’s addictive to see if you can cut all of the logs on screen; sometimes it becomes baffling just how many you can get through. There are different power-ups, such as syrups, which affect your log cutting ability and beards, which affect the game’s difficulty.
Why should you play it?
Jack Lumber doesn’t bring much new to the app table, however, it provides a different coat of paint to an already proven and fun game formula. If you were a fan of Fruit Ninja, then you’ll definitely enjoy Jack Lumber and all of its lumber-y goodness.
